Here at Colorado’s Finest Roofing, we know that hailstorms come with the territory. Each and every summer, we are pummeled with hail in one area of the state or another. The bad news is that storm damage can, and often does, cause significant damage to your home and property. The good news is that you your home insurance company can and will pay for the damages.
As a homeowner, you need to understand that this is the sole job of your insurance company – you pay them each and every month just in case an event like this occurs. Once your house has been hit, it is now their absolute responsibility to make sure that everything on your property that was damaged by hail is either repaired or replaced. So don’t feel bad about filing a claim. This should not adversely affect your insurance premium, and if you let it go, the damage to your home will only become greater. For instance, if you don’t get your hail damage roof repaired or replaced, when snow starts to fall, chances are that water will get into your home, and then you’re looking at interior damage along with exterior damage. Or if you don’t get your paint repaired where it has been damaged by hail, the siding or materials underneath will start to wear.
We have found that if a homeowner is not savvy, more often than not, their hail damage claims tend to be underpaid by their insurance companies. After a hailstorm, your aim, as a homeowner, needs to be to get enough money from your insurance company to cover the cost of every replacement or repair that needs to be done. And since most likely, you’re not out there every day looking for hail damage, we wanted to make this quick little video so that you know what it is your looking for. 99% of the time that we inspect a home for hail damage, we find damage that the homeowner didn’t think to look for.
